michigan house reno update

quick michigan house reno update: the floors have been refinished, and laminate counter and backsplash demo has begun. looking forward to seeing the finished product!

on the left, living and dining rooms before refinishing (lots of staple holes and such that you cannot see). on the right, living and dining rooms after refinishing. we're very happy with the darker stain that brings out the beautiful wood grain. we have another contractor who will be installing baseboards. but first he is starting on some kitchen work...

on the left, kitchen before. on the right, kitchen after laminate counter and backsplash removed (as well as cabinets surrounding hood). we are having white granite with gray veins installed, and white subway tile backsplash with gray grout. the tile will go all the way up to the soffits so that the hood is the focal point of the kitchen. still debating whether or not we are going to paint the cabinets white. we took advantage of the sherwin williams 40% off sale that ended monday and stocked up on white paint to repaint the whole house (ceilings, walls, and trim). if we end up with leftover paint, that'll be more incentive to do the cabinets as well. we shall see how things look with the new counters and backsplash.
